[WASHINGTON, D.C.] - In the wake of a ProPublica report detailing the needless, preventable death of a young woman who was unable to receive the lifesaving treatment she needed in Georgia as a result of the state's then-two-week-old abortion ban, U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) issued the following statement:
"When we warned Donald Trump and Senate Republicans that women would die if they succeeded in overturning Roe, they called us fearmongers. Tragically, it's now painfully obvious that we were right. We cannot wait for more women to die a preventable death because of Republicans' draconian abortion bans-we must protect reproductive rights nationwide, and Democrats are working tirelessly to do just that."
