Committee members will help to implement the development of a statewide land and water trail network to facilitate recreation, transportation, and healthy lifestyles for all.

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania -- Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn today announced that the agency is accepting letters of interest and resumes for five voluntary positions that will be opening on the 2025 Pennsylvania Trails Advisory Committee (PTAC).

"The Pennsylvania Trails Advisory Committee plays a critical role in setting the course to improve and expand our trail system for years to come and we are seeking engaged, creative trail enthusiasts to help guide this work," Secretary Dunn said. "I am excited to see this crop of candidates and look forward to filling the five openings for this important committee."

The agency is seeking interested parties to voluntarily represent each of the following user groups: Hiking, Bicycling, Water Trail Users, and two Members at Large.

Members will serve a three-year term starting January 1, 2025. Letters of interest and resumes are due by October 31, 2024 and should be submitted to [email protected]. More information can be found on the Trails Advisory Committee website.

DCNR is committed to building a culture of diversity and inclusion and strives to provide representation from geographic areas across the state. To increase representation from the northern portions of the state, individuals from those areas are strongly encouraged to apply.

The 20-member, DCNR-appointed Trails Advisory Committee is charged with implementing the development of a statewide land and water trail network to facilitate recreation, transportation, and healthy lifestyles for all. The committee represents both motorized and non-motorized trail users and advises the Commonwealth on the use of state and federal trail funding.

Each year, the Trail Advisory Committee selects a Trail of the Year to help build enthusiasm and support for both large and small trails and raise public awareness about the value of Pennsylvania's trail network. The Trails at Jakes Rocks in the Allegheny National Forest in Warren County is Pennsylvania's 2024 Trail of the Year.
