There are 37 new graduates of the Performance Management Academy, equipped with valuable tools and knowledge to improve the effectiveness of state government programs and drive better outcomes for North Carolinians. The state employees who completed this six-week program come from 18 agencies.

"The Performance Management Academy is a vital part of our commitment to strengthening the capabilities of government agencies," said David Yokum, the Office of State Budget and Management's Chief Scientist. "The program builds a variety of skillsets - logic modeling, delivering with agile techniques, using RCTs to learn about causal impact, and so forth -that attendees can apply in their day-to-day work and, in turn, improve the results they deliver to North Carolinians."

The program is taught by regional and national experts along with perspectives from agency professionals and coordinated by the North Carolina Office of State Budget and Management (OSBM). By offering this program annually, the OSBM fosters a culture of continuous improvement in state government.

Participant Asia Prince, Programs Director at the Administrative Office of the Courts had this to say about the program, "The knowledge I gained in this course has caused me to rethink the process for evaluating the effectiveness of programs I currently oversee. Through PMA, I have developed skills to better implement a new program using logic models and a strategic plan."

"The Performance Management Academy should be required for any state employee at a director level with program oversight." said Christie Burris, Chief Data Officer at NCDIT. "Often, there can be a disconnect between agency program needs/goals and the articulation of those in formats that are evidence based and supported by data. This program helps connect those dots."
