Censorship the name of the game for Democrats; top Harris campaign official pushed for it

Censorship arguably won the 2020 election for the left, so it should surprise no one that leading into the next election, they're embracing it again. "Content moderation" is proven to have worked for them.

As you know from last week, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook (Meta), wrote a letter to House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan admitting that Facebook had bowed to pressure from the FBI to censor speech about COVID --- even humor and satire that didn't fit the preferred narrative --- and also about the Hunter laptop story ahead of the 2020 election. He now says, almost four years too late, that suppressing this story was wrong. Let's not be too quick to pin a medal on him for finally coming clean; the horrific damage has already been done.

C. Douglas Golden says in THE WESTERN JOURNAL that this might at least make it harder for the government to do something similar in 2024. To that we'd say that anyone who thinks they're not using the same tactics this time around is dreaming.

In fact, we learn from Zuckerberg's letter that the main person who was pushing FB and other Big Tech platforms to censor speech, particularly on COVID and vaccines, is now...(better sit down)...the deputy campaign manager for Harris-Walz.

That individual would be former White House Assistant to President Biden and Director of Digital Strategy Rob Flaherty. Flaherty even asked FB in 2021 for "special tools" to allow the government to target users for their content. J. D. Vance is on this...

Oh, and recall that it was Kamala's running mate, as governor of Minnesota, who instituted a COVID "snitch" hotline in his state.

It's not surprising that Flaherty, when grilled a few months ago by the House Committee on the Weaponization of Government --- after dodging subpoenas --- couldn't recite the tenets of the First Amendment or defend his commitment to censorship as expressed by him both verbally and in print. Clearly, if Kamala wins, the war on free speech will escalate, just as it is doing in other parts of the world.

And here's a name that hearkens back to the Clinton years. Robert Reich, who has demanded that Trump be dropped from state ballots for being a "traitor," wrote a column last week declaring Elon Musk "out of control" in his refusal to censor his platform and appeared to call for his arrest. This longtime Hillary ally called Musk's purchase of Twitter (now X) and pledge to reduce censorship to be "ridiculous nonsense" and wants to play hardball to "stop" him. Hillary and others have turned to Europe to use their dangerous Digital Services Act to force censorship against Americans. What they advocate is government treachery.

Jonathan Turley's column about this is a must-read.

Incidentally, Turley also has an excellent column on overzealous "advocacy journalists" facing defamation and "tortious interference" lawsuits from the likes of Elon Musk and the discovery phase of these can be quite revealing.

https://jonathanturley.org/2024/09/02/why-musks-lawsuit-against-media-matters-matters/

Full disclosure: I myself have filed suit against Meta, FB's parent company, for outrageous defamation and libelous false stories they published for months indicating I was very ill with an autoimmune disease, had quit my TV show on TBN because of this, and was using CBD gummies to restore my health. Not one shred of this was even close to true --- every bit absolutely false. I have a great legal team that includes Prof. Alan Dershowitz and hope to hold FB accountable for the damage it has done to me and the people who actually purchased CBD gummies because of what FB continued to publish.

I'll be giving updates on the lawsuit, but FB can't pretend that it "wasn't aware of it and not responsible," as this is the same company that has on repeated occasions shut down my own content because they disagreed with it politically. For them to pretend they didn't know the content was there is laughable on its face, as they seem to know even when a person with a small FB page says something about COVID, election integrity, or Trump and censors them by putting them in the infamous Facebook "jail."

……..

President Trump spoke with Mark Levin on Saturday in a new interview about the Zuckerberg story.

"I'm a little confused about him," Levin said as a lead-in to the discussion. Zuckerberg and Trump would meet, "the meetings would seem to go well," yet in the last election, Zuckerberg spent hundreds of millions of dollars on funding dropboxes, etc., that had a very political impact even though he denied it was political (!). Now he says he'll no longer do that.

"...Zuckerberg listened to the [Biden] administration and did everything he could to help them," Trump said, "including hiding 'the laptop from Hell,' which...has more stuff in it than even they report now. They heeded the 51 intelligence officials; they had a lot of different things. It would've made a big difference in the election. But if you fight that, you end up getting indicted…"

"It all comes from the Justice Department," he said.

This is a fabulous, substantive, wide-ranging interview, continued on Sunday night as well. In total, it runs two hours. (Take THAT, Kamala; after exhaustive preparation, you can barely eek out 18 minutes, sitting there with your running mate.)

Justice Department, FBI and CIA officials (present and former) might never pay a price for what they did with the laptop story to suppress it ahead of the election, as well as after, while Biden was in office.

As you know, they "pre-bunked" the laptop story by holding a workshop at the Aspen Institute, where they warned journalists ("journalists") of imminent "Russian disinformation" surrounding the Biden family and Ukrainian energy company Burisma. The participants weren't aware that the FBI had had a copy of the hard drive since late 2019 and knew the laptop had belonged to Hunter and that the contents were real. They were duped.

That fact is what gives the infamous "classic earmarks" letter the classic earmarks of a fraud.

Also, the FBI had known the story was going to break in October 2020 because they'd been surveilling Rudy Giuliani, whose attorney had the hard drive. (We'll say again what almost no one has mentioned, that through Giuliani's intercepted communications, they surely were spying on investigative journalist Miranda Devine as well. And still are, what do you bet?)

As for the upcoming election, the Soros-funded Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT) is ever-so-conveniently leading a joint effort for "Helping Election Officials Combat Misinformation in 2024." This is co-led by the Google- and Facebook-backed Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL; you know about them), which funded the Wisconsin dropboxes with "Zuckerbucks." More details here in this must-read piece about some very determined propagandists…

RELATED: Mike Benz, the encyclopedic-brained founder of Foundation for Freedom Online, sat down with Tucker Carlson for a two-hour interview about the latest attempts to circumvent free speech, starting with France's jailing of the founder and CEO of Telegram, Pavel Durov, a French citizen who resides in Dubai. (We linked to this on Friday for "weekend reading"; please find time to watch it if you missed it.) Benz says he doesn't know if our own government, perhaps our embassy, was actively involved in that, or perhaps knowledgeable but just complicit, because our own Congress, perhaps the House Foreign Affairs Committee, should be getting the answers and hasn't yet done so. It would certainly fit the pattern of what our embassies have done, he says, "particularly in Europe."

Our State Department was doing this kind of thing in other countries years before Trump got into office, he says, and "the same cast of characters is back" to deal with Trump in our own country with the impeachment attempts --- starting before he even took the oath of office --- and nonstop lawfare ever since. What is being done against Trump is "an instrument of statecraft," just like what they do around the world, now that free speech is getting them right-wing populists and Brexit instead of what they want.

When you look at the ban of Elon Musk and X in Brazil, "it was actually the U.S. State Department who capacity-built, spending tens of millions of dollars, the entire censorship ecosystem in Brazil." They paid Brazilian reporters, censors, "fact"-checkers, legal scholars, and "pressured them to set up the entire censorship architecture."

This same approach to controlling "free" speech has, he says, come to the United States and has been exported around the world "because free speech is a casualty of a proxy war of 'the Blob' [the Deep State: State Department, intel agencies, Pentagon, U.S. aid, and 'swarm army' of non-governmental agencies] against populism." And who's the big, bad populist in America? Donald Trump. You can't trust social media to give you the truth about him. This is the same principle that's been behind our sabotage of other leaders around the world that we didn't like, just turned inward.

MORE: Benz has another new eye-opening video, this one only about five minutes long, about how the Deep State --- CIA, State Department and Pentagon, what he calls "The Blob" --- operate, using a Mafia family like the Sopranos to illustrate it. When the State Department "wants something done geopolitically" to advance U.S. national interests, he explains, the CIA is the "execution arm." The CIA might do the dirty deeds, but that "doesn't mean it's coming from them."

The objectives come from the State Department, which gives them to the CIA to bring about, because the CIA has "flexible means" and "the license to lie." The CIA can later deny everything, to Congress, to the press. And the State Department can plead ignorance of specifically what the CIA did, because that was "need-to-know."

We'll leave you with this chilling commentary about being willingly duped by "fake news," a quote pulled out of a 3-1/2-hour interview with mathematician Dr. Eric Weinstein. After seeing MSNBC's deceptively edited quote that makes it appear that Joe Rogan was praising Kamala when he was really praising Tulsi Gabbard, Weinstein said this:

"Whatever it is, is not really trying to fool you; it's trying to instruct you. You're allowed to see the truth [though it's more difficult to find]...They've settled for something else, which is...think about [major media], as a set of instructions for how to keep your job. You're allowed to disagree; we'll set the boundaries of the disagreement; we'll set the topics of the disagreement."

"...And you're given a choice. You can choose to understand whatever you want, and you can choose to say whatever you want. But if you say what you understand to be true, you can know what the consequences are. You may lose your marriage; you may lose your job; you may lose your friends...If you say, 'I detest Donald Trump, but I think what's going on in the Democratic Party is unholy and insane, you're signing up for whatever Thanksgiving dinner we have planned for you. We're talking to your uncle; we're talking to your spouse. And, in essence, this is a lot like Caligula installing his horse as a senator. No one's fooled that the horse is an ordinary human senator. The choice is, do you wish to say something?"

I think you know the only choice we have: We have to say it's a horse. And point out the horse manure when we see it.

A Shocking Report on the campaign to silence Free Speech

Jul 11, 2024
Wednesday morning, the House Judiciary Committee released a shocking report on corporate collusion to silence conservative online news outlets and commentators by blocking their advertising revenue. Well, it was hardly shocking to me, but it confirmed a lot of my suspicions after doing my newsletter for years.

An important heads-up on global censorship from Dan Bongino

Apr 29, 2024
Bongino, speaking on his podcast last week, updated the current censorship flap in Australia over their government demanding that a particular video be pulled from social media platforms WORLDWIDE. A senator in Australia, Jacqui Lambi, actually threatened Elon Musk with arrest (!) if he didn't comply. Musk, quite predictably and to his credit, responded with mockery.
