Call for Papers 2024 | Sixth edition

Guatemala City, August 2, 2024. - The Central American Integration System (SICA) through its bodies: the SICA General Secretariat, the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA) and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) are pleased to announce the launch of the sixth edition of the "Call for Papers" contest, entitled Building a Prosperous and Sustainable Future for the Central American Region.

The "Call for Papers" invites professionals, academics, researchers and public officials of all nationalities to submit articles that contribute new knowledge and strategic information. These articles should analyze the opportunities and challenges of the regional integration process for the promotion of sustainable development in the region.

Participants may present their research individually or in collaboration, focusing on the following areas: institutional strengthening, democratic security, economic and social integration, climate change and integrated risk management.

The period for receipt of articles for the Call for Papers will be from August 2 to December 13, 2024. Each participant or team will submit a single paper, which must comply with the criteria and structure detailed in the terms and conditions of the call for papers, which are available on the SIECA website. Opinion articles and papers previously submitted in previous editions will not be accepted.

The best papers will be announced at a joint awards ceremony organized by SG-SICA, SIECA and CABEI in the first quarter of 2025. Three main prizes will be awarded: first place will receive USD 3,000 and the opportunity for publication and a scholarship; second place will receive USD 2,000 with academic benefits and publication; and third place will receive USD 1,000 with academic benefits and publication.

This initiative has the invaluable support of our partners, including the University of Chile, the Central American Institute of Public Administration (ICAP) and the Institute of Development of the Loyola Andalucía University - ETEA Foundation, who join the effort to strengthen research and promote sustainable development in Central America.
