44 Students Recognised for Singing and Songwriting Skills at Annual Xinyao Competition

44 students were recognised for their singing and songwriting skills at this year's "Xin Kong Xia" (新空下) Xinyao Singing and Songwriting Competition Grand Finals, which was held at Our Tampines Hub Festive Plaza today. Minister of State for Education and Chairperson of the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL), Ms Gan Siow Huang, delivered a speech at the event.

2.Jointly organised by the CPCLL, Lianhe Zaobao, TCR Music Station and Jurong Pioneer Junior College, the competition aims to nurture students' interest in Chinese language and culture through Xinyao, Singapore's unique genre of Mandarin songs.

3.Now in its 10th year, students got to unleash their creativity and showcase their talents at a community space where the public could join and watch the competition as part of the audience. The winning entry for the Lyrics Writing Category, 《四季所爱》("Love in All Seasons"),penned by Enya Tan and Beh Pei Zhen, was performed live during the finals.
