Todd Clark Named Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at A-State

JONESBORO - Arkansas State University Chancellor Todd Shields has appointed Todd Clark as chief marketing and communications officer (CMCO).
Clark has 18 years' experience in higher education and had been serving in an interim capacity since October. He will oversee the Office of University Marketing and Communications and continue to serve on the chancellor's executive cabinet.
Shields praised Clark's refreshed vision for the role and relentless passion for A-State, which he is observed since his addition to the A-State executive leadership team late last year.
"Todd has a reputation on campus for being a forward thinker and someone people rely on to find the right idea to solve complex issues," Shields said.
"His talent, combined with a love for all things Arkansas State University and northeast Arkansas, make him the right person for this moment in our history."
Clark will lead the division responsible for a wide range of marketing and communications functions, including brand management, advertising, internal and external communications, media relations, crisis communication, publications and creative services, photography, videography, social media and web strategy.
"I am honored to have the opportunity to work with such a talented, creative and dedicated team as we strengthen the A-State brand and aggressively elevate our presence in a more competitive marketplace," Clark said. "I believe that Arkansas State has the right leadership
in place to foster an era of unprecedented innovation and growth in service to our students, our community and the state of Arkansas."
Before his interim appointment as CMCO, Clark served as the associate chief communications officer, overseeing the Digital Creative Media Department.
Under his direction, the group produced multiple award-winning video, photo, web and social media campaigns. Clark's role evolved to include an increased involvement in coordinating campus communication initiatives.

He joined the university in 2006 as the director of events and affinity partnerships for the A-State Alumni Association. He joined the UMC division two years later when campus leadership tapped him to lead the redevelopment of the university website.

"My entire career at A-State has been focused on telling the story of life-changing higher education," Clark said. "I have experienced it personally as a first-generation college student and continue to see it through the countless students who cross my path and go on to
become leaders in our community, state and region."
Clark is a graduate of Blytheville High School and chose A-State to complete a bachelor's degree in management information systems and a master's degree in business administration.
Clark is active in the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). In July, he completed a two-year term as chair of CASE District IV, which consists of colleges, universities and independent schools in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico.

In addition, he was recently named a CASE Laurette, a title given to a select group of volunteers who have demonstrated a long-standing commitment to the organization and its mission to transform society through education.
Clark and his wife, Melanie, have two future Red Wolves, Millie and Ross.
