Beck Center for Veterans Hosts Second Annual Golf Tournament

JONESBORO - The Beck Center for Veterans at Arkansas State University will host its second annual golf tournament on Thursday, August 29.
Teams are invited to register for a four-person scramble, which will be held at Paragould Country Club. Registration is $400 per team and includes range balls, green fees, lunch, and four mulligans per team.
"Our first tournament was a great success. We had 15 teams of four participating in the inaugural event," said Johnathon Mullins, an environmental sciences doctoral student, who leads the on-campus Student Veterans Association.
Registration begins at 10 a.m. with lunch at 11:30 a.m. The shotgun start to the tournament will be at 1 p.m.
"Each team will be assigned golf carts and informed of their starting hole at the time of registration. After all teams have completed the course, we will hold our awards ceremony," said Mullins.
He said many of the teams were also sponsors of the event.
"We had a total of 30 sponsors, raising approximately $9,000. We had some outstanding golfers, including a hole-in-one winner who received a barbecue grill from one of our sponsors," he added.
Mullins said it is vital for Beck Center to host events like this one.

"The primary benefit is the invaluable publicity and the opportunity to network with new businesses and individuals dedicated to supporting veterans in our community," Mullins said.
"While sponsorship funds are crucial for sustaining our efforts, the relationships we cultivate are equally important. These connections foster long-term partnerships that significantly contribute to the advancement and expansion of our programs, ensuring we can continue to provide vital services to our veterans."

Title sponsors include Ranger Tool and Die and Nucor-Yamato Steel Company, which is the dual-title sponsor for this event and the annual Run to Remember 5K.
