On Saturday, November 9, shortly after 2:30 p.m., a New York State Trooper was injured when his patrol vehicle was struck on the Southern State Parkway in the town of Hempstead.
The Trooper had just completed a traffic stop westbound on the Exit 22N ramp and was getting into the patrol vehicle when it was struck by a passing motorist.
The Trooper was transported to Nassau University Medical Center for a complaint of pain. Thankfully, the Trooper does not appear to have serious injuries.
This incident highlights the dangers faced by Troopers each day and demonstrates the importance of obeying the "Move Over Law".
