Trump Visits Johnstown, PA to Tout an Agenda That Will Cost Pennsylvanians Thousands & Threaten IVF Access Arrow

As Donald Trump rallies in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, DNC Spokesperson Addy Toevs released the following statement:

"Today, Trump is promoting his scam agenda to Pennsylvania voters, trying to con his way into the White House once more with a plan that would threaten a woman's right to access reproductive care - including IVF - in the state and cost Pennsylvania families thousands of dollars a year while giving millions in tax breaks to his wealthy friends. Pennsylvania voters know that a second Trump presidency would be a disaster; fundamental freedoms including the ability to build a family when and how they want would be in peril and they would be left footing the bill for Trump's disastrous economic plans that will harm families across the state. That's why they'll show up this November to reject Trump's Project 2025 agenda and elect Vice President Harris and Governor Walz, the only candidates in this race fighting to protect fundamental freedoms for all and lower costs."

IVF access is at risk in Pennsylvania and across the country because of Donald Trump. Trump and his VP pick, JD Vance, would threaten it further.

WESA: "The implications of Alabama's IVF high-court ruling for Pennsylvania families and politicians"

"Pennsylvania's congressional delegation, in fact, already includes cosponsors of the Life at Conception Act, which doesn't explicitly limit IVF but contains the same premise as Alabama's court ruling - that the definition of a human being includes 'all stages of life, including the moment of fertilization.' Backers include Western Pennsylvania's Guy Reschenthaler."

New York Times: "[The Alabama Supreme Court ruling on IVF was] made possible by the Supreme Court's overturning of Roe v. Wade in its 2022 Dobbs decision, which was a result of Mr. Trump's appointment of three justices."

Trump is "proud" of ending Roe v. Wade, paving the way for threats to IVF access. Vance is on board too.

The Hill: "Senate Republicans block legislation to codify IVF access"

Republicans who voted against include: JD Vance.

Vanity Fair: "On Wednesday, Senate Republicans are expected to object to Tammy Duckworth's Right to Build Families Act, because, surprise: They don't actually care about families and aren't 'pro-life.'

"'It's idiotic for us to take the bait,' Senator JD Vance told Politico, as though the measure were some kind of political trap. (He also noted that he had not actually read the bill yet.)"

Vance: "I think that what I really think on - so first of all, the Dobbs decision, everybody knows, overruled Roe v. Wade - I think that was the right decision."

CBS: "Trump says he's proud of role in overturning Roe v. Wade"

Trump's Project 2025 agenda would raise taxes by an average of $5,900 a year for typical middle-class families.

Center for American Progress: "Project 2025's Tax Plan Would Raise Taxes on the Middle Class and Cut Taxes for the Wealthy"

"The shift toward a flat consumption tax while eliminating income taxes would lead to an average $5,900 tax increase for the middle 20 percent of households and an average $2 million tax cut for the top 0.1 percent."

Trump has vowed to double down on his extreme tax scam, extending and even expanding his disastrous policies, which would give handouts to the wealthiest .01 percent of Americans and big corporations while leaving working Pennsylvania families behind.

Guardian: "They were billed as a 'middle-class miracle' but according to a new book Donald Trump's $1.5tn tax cuts have helped billionaires pay a lower rate than the working class for the first time in history."

Trump: "I will never let the Trump tax cuts … I will never let them be taken away."

Trump: "We will replace Biden's tax hikes with the beautiful Trump tax cuts. You know, we have to extend the tax cuts."

Trump to wealthy donors: "You're rich as hell… we're gonna give you tax cuts"

Trump: "I gave the biggest tax cut [including to corporations]… we'd like to get it down lower actually."
