CPB Statement on the Death of Alma Powell

WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 30, 2024) - The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) released the following statement from President and CEO Patricia Harrison regarding the death of Alma Powell.

"The Corporation for Public Broadcasting mourns the death of Alma Powell, a remarkable advocate for education and public media. Together with her husband, Colin Powell, she was a driving force behind the creation of America's Promise Alliance and served at its board chair, championing civic engagement, education and workforce development.

"Her unwavering support for the American Graduate initiative and her dedication to improving the lives of countless young people will always be remembered. Alma's commitment to public media has left an indelible mark on our community, and her legacy will continue to inspire us all.

"May her memory be a blessing to her family and all who knew her."
