Two Suspects In Custody After Youth Violence Strike Force Recovers Firearms While Serving Arrest Warrant.

At about 10:06 AM, on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024, Officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force (YVSF) arrested Chayanne Velazquez, 32, of Dorchester, and Isiaih Speller, 28, of Boston, for outstanding warrants and firearm offenses.

While Officers were attempting to serve a warrant at 270 Huntington Ave, Boston, for the arrest of Velazquez, Officers established a perimeter around the building and additional Officers went to the apartment Velazquez was occupying and knocked and announced their presence. After announcing their presence, Officers heard movement inside the apartment and the occupants refused to open the door. Shortly after, Officers surrounding the perimeter of the building witnessed being thrown from a window located inside the apartment Velazquez was in. Eventually the door opened and Officers located Velazquez and Speller inside.

The first firearm recovered was a black Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm handgun. The magazine to the firearm was ejected out and eight (8) 9mm cartridges were recovered from the sidewalk.

The second firearm was a black Smith and Wesson M&P Shield 9mm handgun. The magazine to the firearm was also ejected out and on the street.

Velazquez was arrested for a warrant issued out of New Hampshire for the charges of Felon in Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, Use of a Firearm, and Possession of a Controlled Substance with intent to sell. Additionally, Velazquez was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2nd Offense), Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, and Fugitive from Justice.

Speller was arrested for multiple warrants including the charges of Violation of Abuse Prevention Order, A&B with a Dangerous Weapon, Resisting Arrest, A&B 209A, and Threats. Additionally, Speller was also charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card.
