The Department of Nursing at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) is thrilled to unveil innovative new pathways designed to streamline nursing school admission.
Jump Start Application for Pre-Nursing Majors
First, the Jump Start Application process provides early assurance that students are on track for success, offering personalized advisement to guide them through the preparatory stages of their academic journey. Students who submit the Jump Start Application receive specific, personalized advisement related to their nursing application. It helps ensure they are well-prepared for the traditional application process. The Jump Start Application is open from September 1 to November 30 of the fall prior to the nursing application deadline. The application can be found at www.swosu.edu/nursing/BSN/ under BSN Traditional Track. For questions, contact Courtney Bryan at [email protected].
Old Fashioned Entry-Traditional Application
Next, for those who prefer the traditional route, the standard application period remains open from December 1 to February 1, following the established process for applying to the BSN program.
SWOSU's Department of Nursing offers a comprehensive Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, preparing students for success in a rewarding healthcare career. The program provides small clinical and lab groups, hands-on learning experiences, and personalized support from faculty members. Upon graduation, SWOSU Nursing students benefit from a 100% career placement rate. The application can be found at www.swosu.edu/nursing/BSN/ under BSN Traditional Track. For questions, contact Courtney Bryan at [email protected].
Save Me a Seat-Direct Admit Pathway (DAP) for High School Juniors and Seniors
Finally, the SWOSU Department of Nursing is introducing a new application option for high school students interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). These updates will provide more opportunities and support for prospective nursing students, allowing them to plan their academic paths with greater certainty and ease.
High school juniors and seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.8 and an ACT superscore of 25 or greater can now secure a seat in the SWOSU Nursing program through the Direct Admit Pathway (DAP). This streamlined process guarantees automatic admission to the traditional BSN program, contingent upon maintaining the required GPA in all SWOSU courses and other program criteria. This option offers students peace of mind, knowing they have a clear path to becoming nursing professionals. Applications for the DAP are accepted on a rolling basis until August when students begin at SWOSU as freshmen. Interested juniors and seniors in high school can apply here: https://swosu.jotform.com/nursing/dap.
