L.A. Area Chamber Commends Representative Zoe Lofgren for Opposing SB 1047

LOS ANGELES, CA - AUGUST 9, 2024 - The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following statement regarding California's artificial intelligence (AI) bill SB 1047.

"The L.A. Area Chamber applauds Representative Zoe Lofgren for opposing SB 1047 and joins the opposition due to the bill's lack of developed technical standards and guidance," stated Maria S. Salinas, President & CEO of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce. "The bill requires firms to adhere to voluntary industry guidance and the National Institute of Standards and Technology, which does not yet exist, and overly emphasizes hypothetical risks while neglecting critical issues like misinformation, discrimination, and workforce displacement."
