Ways to Give This Holiday Season

As the holiday season kicks off, we have several ways to give back to our community

League City Fire Department Food Drive

The League City Fire Department, in partnership with Interfaith Caring Ministries, is hosting a food drive now through November 22.

LCFD is asking residents to bring non-perishable, unexpired food items to the Fire Administration Office at 555 West Walker Street during regular business hours. Your donations will help stock a local food pantry and make a difference in our community.

Suggested items include gravy mix, cornbread mix, evaporated milk, canned vegetables, stuffing mix, canned meat, cream soups, cranberry sauce, and canned pumpkin.

Blue Santa with League City Police Department

The League City Police Department Blue Santa program's "Shop With a Cop/Firefighter" event is less than three weeks away. Blue Santa is collecting cash or check donations (payable to League City Community Outreach) and Target gift cards, which all go towards this special day.

This event allows about 100 children from around 30 families to Shop with a Cop/Firefighter at Target. The LEPD, along with the League City Fire Department, League City Police Department Volunteers in Policing, and Blue Santa, help provide these families with a Christmas they may not have been able to have.

Community Toy Drive

League City is partnering with Interfaith Caring Ministries to host a Community Toy Drive from now through December 5. Collection boxes are located at the Helen Hall Library, Hometown Heroes Park, City Hall, the Municipal Court building, the Civic Center, and Community Center for citizens to drop off new and unwrapped toys.

Interfaith Caring Ministries is a local non-profit based in League City that serve struggling families in our community and across Galveston County. Every year, they create a "toy store" the third week of December so their clients can have the experience of "shopping" for presents for their children.

Help spread the word to your church, civic clubs, and community groups. The toys will be collected and distributed to Interfaith on December 5 so they can have enough time to set up their "toy store" the following week.
