Blessing of Animals, 2022.

As the site of a 17th-century Franciscan mission within the Apalachee province, Mission San Luis carries on the Blessing of Animals tradition originated in the 13th century in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment.

Certificates and online photos of each blessing are provided free of charge. Animal organizations will be on hand sharing information on the important work they do to support animals in Tallahassee and the surrounding communities.

Guests can participate in several pet-themed crafts and activities. Mission San Luis staff will also be dressed in period wardrobe interpreting the history of the site.

Guests are encouraged to bring donations of pet food and supplies for area animal shelters.
