Rainbow Company Youth Theatre Season Opens Sept. 20

Season Ticket Packages On Sale Now

Rainbow Company Youth Theatre, a city of Las Vegas program, will feature productions of "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time," "Twelfth Night," "The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical," and "Ensemble Showcase: A Play Festival" during its 48th season. All performances will be held at Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 S. Brush St. Each show will have six performances over two consecutive weekends; the second weekend's Friday evening performance will be sensory friendly with American Sign Language interpreters for the deaf and hard of hearing. Season ticket packages priced at $30 ($25 package plus $5 fee), and individual show tickets priced at $10 each ($8 ticket plus $2 fee), are available online now. There are no age restrictions for the audience; however some shows include mature content and parental discretion is advised.

The core of the Rainbow Company is its ensemble of 40 dedicated students, ages 10 to 18, selected yearly by open audition. The ensemble members work in all aspects of each production - costumes, makeup, sets, lights, sound and backstage crew - under the tutelage of professional directors and designers.

Fifteen-year-old Christopher has an extraordinary brain, excelling in mathematics but struggling with everyday life. Confined to familiar surroundings, he detests physical contact and harbors distrust for strangers. When he discovers his neighbor's dog murdered, Christopher embarks on a clandestine investigation that dramatically alters his understanding of the world.

"Twelfth Night" is a comedic play that explores themes of love, mistaken identity, and the folly of ambition. Set in the fictional kingdom of Illyria, it follows the romantic entanglements of characters like Viola, who disguises herself as a man, and Orsino, who is in love with a countess. The play's humorous and often bittersweet plot twists showcase Shakespeare's skill in blending comedy with deeper reflections on human nature.

This musical adaptation of Rick Riordan's bestseller, "The Lightning Thief," follows teenager Percy Jackson and his friends as they embark on a quest to find Zeus' missing lightning bolt and prevent a war among the gods. Percy, a newly discovered demigod, must grapple with his uncontrollable powers, unwanted destiny, and a slew of mythological monsters on his journey to clear his name and save the world.

"Ensemble Showcase: A Play Festival"

The Ensemble Showcase features a collection of short plays produced entirely by our talented Ensemble company students. Act One will present our annual senior-written and directed script, highlighting the creativity and leadership of our graduating students. Act Two will follow with a diverse array of short plays and one-act performances, also directed by our Ensemble, offering a range of genres and themes that celebrate our dedicated and talented students.

Auditions will be held for the first three productions at the Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 S. Brush St. Casting for Rainbow Company shows is open to members of the community ages 8 to 18. There is no cost to audition for each show. Auditions will be by appointment; sign-ups for audition slots as well as audition sides (short scenes from the script) for preparation will be available at rainbowcompany.org prior to each audition.
