Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Ranked as the Best Cancer Center in the Northeast, Second in the Nation, and First for Urology Care by U.S. News & World Report

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) has been recognized as the best cancer center in the Northeast, the number two cancer hospital in the nation, and the number one hospital for urology care by U.S. News & World Report in its annual Best Hospitals list. MSK has held its position as a top-two cancer hospital in the U.S. and the best cancer center in the Northeast since these rankings were established 35 years ago.

"It is an exceptional honor to be named again as a top hospital for cancer care," said Selwyn M. Vickers, MD, FACS, President & CEO of MSK. "This recognition reflects the unmatched compassion and dedication shown by MSK's staff as they deliver leading-edge patient care each day. Congratulations to the MSK community on this extraordinary achievement."

This year's top ranking comes as experts from across MSK have been recognized for their groundbreaking contributions to cancer research, patient care and education. These achievements include discovering new ways to treat a relentless type of leukemia, harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) to improve cancer care, leading research to reduce side effects and enhance quality of life for patients, and spearheading the first investigational mRNA vaccine to treat pancreatic cancer.

MSK disease subspecialties including urology (ranked #1); gastroenterology & GI surgery (ranked #12) and ear, nose, and throat (ranked #24) were included on the publication's top 50 list. MSK was also identified as "high performing" in five additional subspecialty categories: colon cancer surgery, leukemia, lymphoma & myeloma, lung cancer surgery, gynecological cancer surgery, and prostate cancer surgery.

This is the second consecutive year MSK has been ranked as the number one hospital for urology care in the nation. The key differentiation of MSK's Urology Service, which treats people with urologic diseases and genitourinary cancers; including prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, and testicular cancer, is its focus on the latest treatments and preserving quality of life for patients.

The U.S. News & World Report rankings are determined using a broad set of factors. These include the hospital's reputation among board-certified physician specialists, risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and level of nursing care, among other criteria.
