Congressman Al Green Joined the VA Medical Center, Combined Arms, and Houston Food Bank to Distribute Food and Resources to Veterans Following Hurricane Beryl

(Houston, TX) - On Saturday, July 27, 2024, Congressman Al Green joined Francisco Vazquez, Medical Center Director of the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, in collaboration with Combined Arms (a veterans and community support organization) as well as the Houston Food Bank, to distribute free food to veterans and their family members to aid in recovery from Hurricane Beryl.

The food distribution event for veterans took place at the Houston VA Regional Office and was drive-thru only. More than 1,000 veterans registered to receive food and critical emergency supplies. The food distribution included a variety of fruits and potatoes, as well as a hurricane food box with non-perishable items.

Congressman Al Green stated, "I appreciate the VA Medical Center, Combined Arms, and the Houston Food Bank for providing essential food and resources to our veterans following Hurricane Beryl. Caring for our veterans is of utmost importance, and their commitment is truly commendable. Together, we must prioritize the wellbeing of those who have selflessly served our nation. This is the least that a grateful nation can do."
