Meet the Team: ASPPH’s Newest Staff Members

We are excited to welcome three new staff members to ASPPH, including two grant and donor-funded positions. We are committed to finding the best possible candidates to support our work in advancing academic public health, and we attract talent from a diverse pool of applicants, allowing us to embrace the tenets of gender, racial, ethnic, and geographical representation in the workplace. Due in part to our generously being awarded grants and receiving funding, we were able to fill three new positions.

• Michelle Kirkland - Michelle Kirkland is a Web Developer II, where she will deliver cutting-edge WordPress websites through a human-centered software development lifecycle approach. Before ASPPH, Michelle worked as a freelance web developer, building modern, responsive web applications using technologies like React and WordPress. Michelle holds a master's degree from the University of North Texas and a bachelor's degree from the University of the Pacific and has completed Software Development Training with 100Devs. She has been recognized with a Hackathon Winner Award by Girl Develop It (2022) and a Fulbright Scholar Award by the University of Texas (2006).
• Melissa Meadows, MPH, MAT- Melissa Meadows serves as the Director of Public Health Continuing Education. She is responsible for implementing, managing, and reporting on grant programs housed within the ASPPH Center for Public Health Workforce Development. Prior to joining ASPPH, Melissa served as Vice President of Education at the Virginia League for Planned Parenthood for seven years. Melissa received her MPH from East Tennessee State University, her Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, and her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Earlham College. She also has a Certificate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from Cornell University.
• Isabella Padilla - Isabella joins ASPPH as a Senior Graphic Design and Marketing Specialist supporting ASPPH's grant-funded projects and initiatives in the ASPPH Center for Public Health Workforce Development (CPHWD). Her role focuses on creating engaging designs for website designs, ads, and other digital media across our digital properties to promote and enhance the work of the CPHWD. Outside of work, Isabella enjoys knitting, drawing, and swimming.
