Hockensmith to lead student activities and campus recreation

The Ohio State University at Marion and Marion Technical College are pleased to announce the recent hiring of Marysville native Dawn Hockensmith as the Alber Student Center Activities Coordinator.

Hockensmith began in the position on Monday, September 9. She will be responsible to help direct campus student center activities, campus recreation, intramural sports, and diversity and engagement programming for students of both Ohio State Marion and Marion Technical College.

"I am so excited to serve, lead, and encourage students and be a part of their academic and wellness journey," said Hockensmith. "I am looking forward to making new connections with the students, faculty, and staff here and cannot wait to bring fun and engaging programming to the students of Ohio State Marion and Marion Technical College," she added.

Prior to starting at Ohio State Marion, Hockensmith previously served as health & wellness specialist in the department of college recreation and wellness at Columbus State Community College for the past 17 years. In her role, she promoted recreation and wellness for students and was charged with oversight of the college's fitness center and recreation classes.

Hockensmith earned her Bachelor of Science in Leadership with a concentration in Sport Management from Union Institute & University in 2012 and her Master of Business Administration from Ohio Dominican University in 2014.

A lifelong native Union County, she attended Fairbanks Local School District. When not at work, Dawn can be found spending time with her husband and two daughters on their family farm in Marysville, Ohio.
