Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!

As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department's homepage and on the "News" tab of the Department's website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here's a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Hit Shooting - 10th Street and Chestnut Avenue - On August 11, 2024 at approximately 7:08 p.m., officers responded to the 300 block of West 10th Street regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the victim to a local hospital in stable condition. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim and a group of subjects were in a verbal dispute which escalated when a female adult suspect discharged a firearm, striking the victim. The suspects fled the scene prior to officers' arrival. No other injuries were reported. Suspect information is under investigation.
  • Hit Shooting - The Paseo and Aquarium Way - On August 11, 2024 at approximately 8:00 p.m., officers responded to the Public Safety Building at 400 West Broadway regarding a male adult victim who came to the location with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the victim to a local hospital in stable condition. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was near the area of The Paseo and Aquarium Way when an unknown male suspect verbally confronted the victim and discharged a firearm in his direction, striking the victim. The suspect fled the area prior to officers' arrival. No other injuries were reported. Suspect information and the motive remain under investigation.
  • No-Hit Shooting - 14th Street and Long Beach Boulevard - On August 11, 2024 at approximately 9:45 p.m., officers responded to the area of 14th Street and Long Beach Boulevard regarding a shots call. During their investigation, officers located evidence of a shooting. No victim or suspect were located. No injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
Great work officers! Last night officers safely took a gun off the streets.
  • On August 11, 2024 at approximately 5:39 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop near Cedar Avenue and Anaheim Street. During their investigation, officers recovered a firearm. The suspect, who was determined to be a prohibited possessor, was arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
