Every Woman's Marathon Set for Saturday, Nov. 16

Traffic, roadway impacts begin early Saturday morning, Friday evening

SAVANNAH - The Every Woman's Marathon is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 16 and will be the first major marathon in Savannah since 2021.

Every Woman's Marathon, presented by Team Milk, will course 26.2 miles through Savannah beginning at City Hall at 6:57 a.m. and ending at E. Broad and E. President St. The course will take runners through 15 Savannah neighborhoods under a seven hour and 45 minutes time limit.

Residents are encouraged to check posted signage for impacts in their neighborhood and consult the route map to plan travel on Saturday morning due to roadway impacts. Vehicles will not be towed off the marathon route, with the exception of the start area on Bay St.

The marathon's start area, between Bull and Abercorn, on Bay St., will begin closing to traffic at 3 a.m. on Saturday. All vehicles in the five-block area on Bay St. will be towed at the owner's expense. Bay St. is expected to reopen to traffic no later than 9:30 a.m. The final runners are expected to finish around 3 p.m.

The northbound lanes of Truman Parkway between DeRenne and Henry/Anderson exits will close at 5 a.m. to vehicle traffic. Truman Parkway is expected to be completely reopened by 3 p.m. Downtown and Midtown area roadway closures will begin at 6 a.m. on Saturday and should be completely reopened by 11:30 a.m.

The area around DeLesseps and Savannah State University, as well as Kengsington Park and Henry Street, will begin closing at 6 a.m. and will reopen around 2 p.m.

Savannah Police Department will have over 180 officers working the event and stationed throughout the city assisting with the marathon and moving residents and vehicles around the route as needed.

The marathon is expecting close to 7,000 runners and their family members for the marathon. Residents are encouraged to plan ahead, be patient, and expect delays. Over 40% of the registered runners are first-time marathon runners. The finish festival will be held on private property at the Trustees Garden.

Every Woman's Marathon by Team Milk is the only U.S. marathon designed by and for women. Built to be inclusive, accessible, empowering, and community-building, the marathon will host several weekend events of wellness and celebration.
