Unitil is proud to announce the 2024 recipients of the Unitil Scholarship Fund. Each year, Unitil recognizes five high school seniors pursuing degrees in STEM (science, technology, engineering, or math) from Unitil service territories in New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts by awarding them with $5,000 towards their first year of undergraduate study.

The 2024 students are:

  • Rose Saunders of Concord, New Hampshire, a graduate of Concord High School, plans to study biochemistry at Rochester Institute of Technology.
  • Ashleigh Nagel of Newton, New Hampshire, a graduate of Virtual Learning Academy of Exeter, plans to study neuroscience at Merrimack College.
  • Jack Amari of Ashby, Massachusetts, a graduate of North Middlesex Regional High School, plans to study civil engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
  • Kobe White of Dover, New Hampshire, a graduate of Dover Senior High School, plans to study chemical engineering at the University of Rhode Island.
  • Kani Gutter of South Portland, Maine, a graduate of Falmouth High School, plans to study aeronautical technology management at Arizona State University.

As part of the program, a sixth student who is the child of a Unitil employee was also awarded a scholarship. Joshua Gauvin of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, a graduate of Fitchburg High School, plans to study political science at George Washington University

"These students exemplify all the qualities needed to be future leaders in their respected fields. We so look forward to awarding these scholarships every year because of their chosen career path in the areas of science, technology, engineering, or math," said Unitil External Affairs Director, Alec O'Meara. "We wish them nothing but the best."

Since its inception in 2011, the scholarship program has awarded over $400,000 in financial support to students who demonstrate exceptional potential for careers in STEM.
