Mayor Terry Presents 2025 Budget Proposal

Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry today presented City Council with her first proposed budget as the city's 35th Mayor.

The proposed 2025 budget, which Mayor Terry presented in an approximately 20 minute speech (see above), would fund the city through the 2025 calendar year to the tune of approximately $514 million. Mayor Terry's presentation kicked off a day of budget hearings, with department heads presenting their department budgets to Council, and answering questions from Council members.

Among the highlights of Mayor Terry's proposed budget are:

  • A 3% salary increase for all city employees whose wages are not determined through collective bargaining
  • A 7% salary increase for members of the Evansville Police and Evansville Fire departments
  • A $1 million allocation to the Affordable Housing Trust Fund
  • Increased funding for Land Acquisition and the Land Bank
  • A 150% increase in funding for fire station maintenance
  • Funding for construction of the city's first new fire station since 1996
  • A $2.5 million increase in funding for road paving, improvements, and maintenance
  • An increase in funding for maintenance of the city's Parks and Recreation facilities
  • Funding to maintain and expand the METS Micro program

Once the initial budget hearings are complete, Mayor Terry and City Council will collaborate to create the city's final budget, which Council is scheduled to adopt in October.
