Local Shelter Closes Leading to Mass Intake at County Shelter

Recently, a rescue center in Pinal County closed its doors, resulting in a mass intake at Pinal County Animal Care and Control. The Pinal County Animal Care and Control shelter has already been under enormous stress due to being over capacity and taking on the dogs from the closed rescue.

The shelter took 15 dogs from the rescue on August 9th and the remaining six on August 21. The dogs are medium-large, mixed-breed dogs that were placed into the rescue's care after ending up on euthanasia lists at other shelters.

After evaluation, several of the dogs have found placement; some of the dogs are available for adoption, and others are available for rescue transfer. Prioritizing public safety, the shelter euthanized two of the dogs due to severe bite histories.
