ROSELAND, N.J. - The New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA) delivered 2,484 pounds of nonperishable items and canned goods and raised $28,855 in online donations for its fifteenth annual food drive in November to benefit the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. The NJCPA Emerging Leaders Council, which sponsored the Food Drive, also held a volunteer day at the FoodBank to help pack food for seniors and veterans.
The Community FoodBank of New Jersey has been delivering food and food supplies to needy families in 15 counties in the state for nearly 50 years. Through its distribution partners, it helps provide food to pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters and other charities in need of assistance. The NJCPA has donated nearly 25,000 pounds of food items to the FoodBank since 2010.
"Food insecurity is a problem we can all have a hand in finding the solution. I'm proud of the work the NJCPA does and the leadership to provide the resources needed to make a difference," said Joseph Hunt, CPA, PSA, manager in the nonprofit group at CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA) LLP and chair of the NJCPA Emerging Leaders Council.
"At this time of year and always, CPAs and accounting professionals give their energy and commitment to such worthy causes to help our communities thrive. Hunger is a major problem in New Jersey and often goes unrecognized," said Aiysha (AJ) Johnson, MA, IOM, CEO and executive director at the NJCPA. "We are proud of our members' support of this issue and their generous donations."
