Colusa County District Attorney Appointed Colusa County Superior Court Judge

(COLUSA, CA) October 14, 2024 - On October 9, 2024, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced the appointment of 18 Superior Court Judges, including the appointment of Brendan M. Farrell to serve as a Judge in the Colusa County Superior Court. California Superior Courts hear civil and criminal cases, as well as family, probate, and juvenile cases.

"I am honored and excited to serve Colusa County in my new capacity as judge and am grateful and proud of the work accomplished by my office as District Attorney," said Farrell.

Mr. Farrell has served in the Colusa County District Attorney's Office since 2010, most recently as Colusa County District Attorney. Prior to that role, Farrell served as Chief Deputy District Attorney from 2016 to 2022, and as a Deputy District Attorney from 2010 to 2016. Before coming to Colusa County, Farrell worked for the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office. Farrell earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School.

Mr. Farrell lives in Colusa, coaches basketball at Colusa High School, and is a proud member of the Colusa Arts Council and Colusa Rotary. Farrell has been married to Megan Farrell (Mena), a Colusa High School graduate, for eleven years, and has a 6 year old daughter, Maria, as well as a son on the way.

The Board of Supervisors holds the responsibility for appointing Mr. Farrell's successor as District Attorney.
