Trust for Public Land Announces Lindi von Mutius as a National Board Member

Trust for Public Land (TPL) announced today that Lindi von Mutius has joined TPL's National Board of Directors to help accelerate connecting every community to the joys and benefits of the outdoors.

"I've witnessed firsthand the inspiring work that the Trust for Public Land has undertaken across the country, advocating for sufficient access to parks and open spaces for all people and communities. Simultaneously, they are dedicated to preserving Black history and celebrating Black culture in our shared outdoor spaces, elevating the achievements and enduring spirit of Black Americans from Nicodemus in Kansas to Dr. King's childhood neighborhood in Atlanta," said Lindi von Mutius, Member of TPL's Black History and Cultural Advisory Council. "Being appointed to Trust for Public Land's National Board of Directors is a privilege and an opportunity to contribute to the vital mission of connecting every community to the joys and benefits of the outdoors while honoring our shared history."

Lindi von Mutius is a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy, Williams College, and Vermont Law School. Lindi is passionate about environmental justice and increasing equitable access to the outdoors. She is the Director of the Harvard University Climate Action Accelerator housed within the Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability. The Climate Action Accelerator ensures that Harvard's most consequential climate research both shapes, and is shaped by stakeholders so that researchers produce knowledge, ideas, and tools that will drive progress in adapting to a changing climate.

Previously, Lindi was the Director of the Sustainability and Global Development Practice programs at the Harvard University Division of Continuing Education, practiced corporate, bankruptcy, and environmental law, and held senior roles at the Trust for Public Land, the Sierra Club, and the Environmental Defense Fund. Lindi is also a talented educator who cares deeply about the student experience and enjoys teaching Environmental Justice and the Graduate Proseminar at the Extension School. She is also a member of TPL's Black History and Culture Advisory Council.

Parks across the country are an essential part of improving public health, protecting vulnerable communities from the impacts of the climate crisis, and building strong community cohesion. And yet, 100 million people, including 28 million kids, do not have access to a quality park within a 10-minute walk from home. Access to the outdoors is a fundamental human need - yet there is a significant outdoor equity gap in America. Parks located in communities of color are half the size of parks in predominantly white neighborhoods and serve five times more people per acre. TPL aims to change that and is leading a nationwide movement to close this outdoor equity gap by creating parks in the communities that need them most.

Trust for Public Land conserves land for people to enjoy as parks, gardens, and natural areas, ensuring livable communities for generations to come. TPL has created or enhanced more than 14,000 acres across Massachusetts, connecting nearly 264,000 people to the outdoors.
