Mano Sundaresan Appointed Head of Editorial Content, Pitchfork

Mano Sundaresan has been appointed as head of editorial content for Pitchfork. In this role, Sundaresan will oversee the development and execution of Pitchfork's editorial strategy and storytelling across platforms. Sundaresan will report to Will Welch, global editorial director of GQ and Pitchfork. Under Welch's leadership the Pitchfork brand will continue to stand alone, with Pitchfork writers and editors publishing on Pitchfork.com and across all Pitchfork handles. With Sundaresan in his new role, Pitchfork will continue its mission as the most trusted voice in music, building upon the brand's renowned editorial franchises with a new focus on columnists and contributors, social video, audio, and events. Sundaresan joins Pitchfork from No Bells, the internet music and reviews site that he founded in 2021. In just three years, No Bells emerged as a voice of authority in the music landscape and a vital hub for under-covered scenes.

From Will Welch, Global Editorial Director, GQ and Pitchfork
"This is the beginning of a new era at Pitchfork and I'm proud to have the voice of a new generation of music writers, critics, and content creators, Mano Sundaresan, leading the title with me. From my first discussion with Mano, he made it clear that there is a huge opportunity to combine the longstanding institutional authority of Pitchfork with the creator-first language of internet music culture today. Under this new strategy, we will use the many platforms at our disposal, from columns to podcasting to social video, to prioritize powerful individual voices who can bring audiences inside the shows, scenes, and subcultures that matter. I am deeply impressed with the vibrant community Mano built at No Bells. With him on board at Pitchfork, we are poised to turn more readers than ever onto new music-and to support the artistry and careers of the most essential musicians of our time."

From Mano Sundaresan, Head of Editorial Content, Pitchfork
"When Will first reached out to me about this role, I felt like I was dreaming. I finally saw a tangible path for ideas I've had stewing in my brain about the future of music journalism, inspired by building No Bells and having countless conversations with peers. As a longtime Pitchfork reader, it's surreal to now be a part of this publication's legacy. In the last few years, Pitchfork's expansion of coverage across music scenes spanning the globe has made it more vital than ever. Alongside the team, I'm passionate about publishing curious, funny and experiential coverage of under-represented scenes, giving emerging writers the room and support to dig deep into their beats, and building community around music journalism through shows, readings and events. Everywhere I look, I see compelling new independent writers, blogs and pages, as well as a new generation of music listeners turning to these tastemakers. I'm excited to adapt Pitchfork to a more decentralized music media ecosystem, one where institutional power is so often in the hands of singular voices that cut through the noise."
