U.S. congressional delegation is on a working visit in Armenia

The RA NA President Alen Simonyan received the congressional delegation led by the U.S. Senator Roger Wicker. At the talk in small format the meeting in extended format followed, in which deputies of the RA NA Civil Contract Faction also took part.

Welcoming the arrival of the delegation to Armenia, Alen Simonyan thanked the USA for the continuous support to democratic vision of Armenia.

"The relations between the Republic of Armenia and the United States are based on the common values and the friendship between the two countries' peoples. The high level political dialogue and mutual trust serve as a stable basis for the continuous development and deepening of the Armenian-American cooperation, which is a priority for us," the Speaker of Parliament noted.

The security themes regarding Armenia and the region, the signing of the possible peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the issues referring to the Armenian-Turkish relations, the repatriation of the Armenian captives being held in Azerbaijan and the preservation of the Armenian historical-cultural heritage of Nagorno Karabakh were at the core of the discussion. Afterwards the Armenian and American parliamentarians held a joint press conference and answered the questions of the mass media representatives.

During the three-day working visit the delegation had meetings with the RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, as well as the parliamentary opposition, aiming at strengthening the ties between the two countries.
