Tulsa Parks Announces Major Progress on Sports Courts Renovation Project

8/6/2024

The City of Tulsa is currently undertaking its most extensive effort to revitalize sports courts in Tulsa Park's history. This project is part of the Improve Our Tulsa II initiative and aims to upgrade 98% of Tulsa Parks' sports courts to ensure they are modern, accessible, and enjoyable for all residents.
The following sports courts have already been renovated or are in the final stages of completion:
  • Terwilliger
  • Rose Dew
  • McClure
  • Manion
  • Heller
  • Challenger 7
  • Tracy
  • Norberg
These completed projects have introduced new and refurbished facilities, including 32 new pickleball courts, five new basketball courts, three new volleyball courts, one new futsal court, one new "all sports" court, and one chinlone court. Additionally, 33 existing tennis courts and 11 basketball or half-basketball courts have been resurfaced, providing a multi-sport experience for Tulsa residents.
Renovations are ongoing, with construction expected to be completed by Fall 2024 at the following parks:
  • Starks Cheyenne
  • Langenheim
  • Carbondale
  • Hicks
  • Skelly
  • Whiteside
The third and final phase of sports court renovations will be completed at the following parks:
  • Explorer
  • Cowan
  • Lacy
  • Lakeview
  • West Highlands
All sports court renovations are scheduled to be completed by 2026 and are funded through the Improve Our Tulsa II capital improvements package, which costs $4.8 million. The first phase, which cost approximately $900,000, has already provided significant enhancements and new facilities for various sports.
