Deck Master Home Improvement: Celebrating 25 Years of Membership
Deck Master Home Improvement is one of Staten Island's only specialty deck companies. Located in Arden Heights, Deck Master Home Improvement offers services in all things decks: custom decks, pool decks, rooftop decks, water view decks, deck enclosures, and any kind of a deck a client dreams of. In addition to decks, Deck Master also offers general contracting. Deck Master Home Improvement serves New York, New Jersey, and parts of Florida.
"We always aim to please" is owner Louis Guttman's motto, who tries to never leave a customer dissatisfied. By carefully selecting his craftsmen and providing stellar work across states, Guttman has created an over 40-year-old company with a highly accredited reputation. Guttman is proud of the fact that over 85% of Deck Master's jobs are customer referrals. Deck Master offers a wide range of materials, including Trex, PVC, cedar, mahogany, Ipe wood, Gorilla Decking, and Deckorators.
Guttman opened Deck Master Home Improvement in 1979 after relocating from Brooklyn to Staten Island. In an interview for Deck Contractor, a deck industry magazine, Guttman says: "I hired a contractor to build a deck on my house, and all I did was complain about the work he did to my wife. The shoddy workmanship, the lack of craftmanship - it was totally unprofessional. I decided I could do a better job than that. I got my contractor's license, started Deck Master, and put an ad in the paper." Deck Master has only grown since then.
Deck Master Home Improvement was awarded the honor of TrexPro Platinum Contractor by Trex, the highest award given by Trex to contractors. In 2014, Deck Master was selected as the general contractor to build the Staten Island "Fantasy Shore Amusement Park" deck and ramp at Midland Beach. As part of a revitalization initiative following Hurricane Sandy, Deck Master reconstructed an entirely new decking system on Father Capodanno Boulevard. The decking system ran around the attractions at the park and included a handicap ramp.
This year, Deck Master Home Improvement is celebrating its 25th anniversary with the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce. A member since 1999, Deck Master has previously been a recipient of the Chamber's Best Exhibitor at the Staten Island Home Show. In addition to being a member of the Chamber, Deck Master is also a member of the North American Deck and Rail Association, the Better Business Bureau, and the Deck Building Industry Organization.
