Washington, DC - U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. hosted a panel today focused on the physical and emotional dangers gender-affirming care imposes on America's children and highlighting the impacts of the Democrats' trans agenda on our children. Senator Marshall and panelists discussed legislative solutions in Congress to protect children from the Left's radical gender ideology, including a soon-to-be-introduced bill by Senator Marshall that would place restrictions on gender-affirming care for minors and impose strict financial penalties on physicians who do.
Joining Senator Marshall for the panel were Senator Tommy Tuberville, Congresswoman Mary Miller, Independent Women's Voice Ambassador and former University of Pennsylvania swimmer Paula Scanlan, American Principles Project President Terry Schilling, and Heritage Foundation Senior Legal Fellow Sarah Parshall Perry.
"I dedicated my career as a physician to the health and well-being of the next generation. Never would I have imagined I'd have to fight harder in the halls of Congress to help save our children than I did in the delivery room," said Senator Roger Marshal, M.D.. "Today we brought together a coalition of voices to sound the alarm on the dangers of gender-affirming care and to talk about solutions. I am looking forward to unveiling a legislative solution in the coming weeks that will prevent the doctors engaged in the gender-affirming procedure and mutilation and end the Gender Industrial Complex from preying on our nation's children."
"We're grateful to be able to collaborate with Senator Marshall on an important event like this. Earlier this month, the American people gave the Republican Party a mandate to protect children from the predatory transgender industry. Now the hard work begins. We look forward to working closely with President Trump and Senator Marshall as we determine the best legislative path forward," said Terry Schilling, President of the American Principles Project.
"We all know by now that so-called 'gender-affirming care' is anything but caring. And the only thing it affirms is the Left-wing worldview that a child - not their parents - knows best. It is pure insanity and has caused irreversible damage on countless children. This isn't about politics - this is about good and evil. Thank you to my friend, Senator Roger Marshall, for hosting this important event to discuss how we can protect women and girls everywhere," said Senator Tommy Tuberville.
"The last four years have been nothing short of disastrous as vulnerable children have been maimed for life and girls have been harmed from men competing in their sports. We have a clear mandate from the American people to stop this madness, and I'm excited to get to work in the 119th Congress," said Representative Mary Miller.
"It is so important to discuss the dangers of radical gender ideology, protecting women's sports, and reclaiming the original intent of Title IX. Conversations like the one we had today are essential for advancing legislative solutions that uphold women's privacy, safety, and opportunities. From what I have experienced, I know the importance of protecting women and girls. I am so grateful to Senator Marshall, Senator Tuberville, and Representative Mary Miller for their leadership in championing legislation that safeguards the rights and integrity of women and girls across the nation," said Paula Scanlan, Independent Women's Voice Ambassador and former University of Pennsylvania swimmer.
"American culture has fallen victim to a form of identity politics not seen before thanks to the rapid expansion of the call to advance so-called 'transgender rights.' The problem with calls to protect such 'rights' is that they automatically put women, girls, children, and even parents in the crosshairs of a hard-left progressive agenda designed to cater to an individual's subjective, internal 'gender identity.' The key to ending this madness is defining sex, once and for all, so the more than 100 federal laws and regulations prohibiting sex-discrimination are interpreted fairly, accurately, and in such a way as to protect the very people for whom they were enacted," said Sarah Parshall Perry, Senior Legal Fellow at the Heritage Foundation.
