​Final Phase on the Balls Bend Safety Improvement Project Begins July 15

Indiana, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a nighttime single-lane traffic restriction under flagging will occur starting on July 15, 2024, for paving operations in the final construction phase of the Balls Bend Safety Improvement Project.

There will be a single-lane closure July 15 through 21, 2024, from Route 8 to Davis Road 8 PM to 6 AM Monday through Friday and 6 PM to 11 AM Saturday and Sunday. In the event of inclement weather, the dates will be moved to July 22 through 28, 2024. Motorists should be aware of flaggers and changing traffic patterns during the paving operations.

This $26.5 million safety improvement project is anticipated to be completed in January 2025 by Independence Excavating of Independence, Ohio. The project is a major roadway realignment project involving the addition of a travel lane in each direction and a center turn lane. It also includes the construction of four new structures, realigned local road connections, and a new signalized intersection at State Route 228 and Parks Road.
