Celebrating a successful 39th annual Renton River Days

City of Renton celebrates successful 39th annual Renton River Days festival

The 39th Renton River Days festival brought thousands together from to celebrate Renton's growing community.

RENTON, WA (AUGUST 7, 2024) - Renton River Days is a festival born from local collaboration, uniting an ever-growing community since its inception in 1986. Recently, the city celebrated with thousands of community members during the 39th Renton River Days. The festival is a deep and authentic celebration of community spirit, fun, and togetherness.

"Planning begins as early as January and continues through early August when all involved staff reflect on how improvements can be made for the year to come," said Jennifer Spencer, City of Renton's Interim Recreation Director. "This year's Renton River Days festival had roughly 20,000 attendees over three days. We continue to work to create memorable experiences for residents and visitors alike with an ever-expanding schedule of events, programming, and investments in our park properties."

Over the span of three days, residents witnessed, 71 parade participants, 48 community booths, 55 Summer Bazaar vendors, performances by the Youth Wenatchee Circus, a lively Friday evening drone show at Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park, free kid's Activity Zone, and over 15 event sponsors. The festivities also featured several vibrant bands, live performances, and various culinary options from over twenty food trucks.

For Saturday's parade, the Mayor's Choice Award went to the fantastic performance by the Baby Dolls Drill Team.

Honorable mentions went to parade floats from: Metropolitan Gymnastics; Body Language Studios; the Filipino American Community of Puget Sound; the Electronettes Hi Steppers Senior Drill Team; Lindbergh High School Varsity Cheer; Renton Pride; and Baile Dior Studios.

Renton Municipal Arts Commission and Allied Arts of Renton announced the 2024 Chalk Art competition winner as Ali Cohen, with her chalk art jellyfish.

The festival would not have been possible without city staff, Renton Parks and Recreation, the support of volunteers, partners, vendors, performers, sponsors, and our active and engaged community members for attending the festivities.
