Welcome to ASRM's Advocacy in Action, where we give an overview of what our Government Affairs team has been working on, summarize relevant federal and state legislation, and highlight the advocacy and outreach efforts of our members. We are so thankful for the advocacy of our members; please get in touch with the Office of Public Affairs at [email protected] for more information on ways to get involved.

  • August is Civic Health Month, and we observed National Patient Advocacy Day on August 19! Thank you to our incredible member advocates for all you do for your patients and your community. Through our partnership with Vot-ER, we've created a resource roundup on how to become an even stronger patient advocate. Make sure you're ready for election season and encourage patients and colleagues to do their civic duty by ordering a free Vot-ER badge.
  • Infertility, a disease that cuts across party lines, is in the national spotlight. ASRM salutes the providers and patients sharing their stories and advocating for universal access to reproductive medicine. Watch a video on the importance of IVF access from the DNC here.
  • ASRM members Dr. Rachel Whynott, Dr. Ginny Ryan, Dr. Albert Hsu, and ASRM President Dr. Paula Amato co-authored an article sharing their experiences at the AMA House of Delegates and the role the meeting plays in the legislative process. Read the full article in Fertility and Sterility.
  • ASRM celebrated World IVF Day on July 25 by advocating for access to reproductive health care and calling for a House vote on the Right to IVF Act. Read our press release on the day's press conference hosted by Rep. Susan Wild (D-PA) and the Pro-Choice and Democratic Women's Caucuses.
  • ASRM's Government Affairs Manager Jessie Losch will join the Jewish Fertility Foundation for a webinar on fertility access in a post-Roe world on September 12. Click here to register and learn more.
  • ASRM signed onto a joint statement from medical professionals on the Supreme Court's EMTALA and Mifepristone rulings and what more needs to be done to protect reproductive care at the federal level. Find the statement here.
  • It's not too late to join ASRM's Action Alert challenge! Enter to win by engaging with as many of the Action Alerts we send members via email and socials as possible. Contest ends October 1. For more information on the challenge and to see the current leaderboard, click here.
