UPDATE: Storm Debris Removal

(June 27, 2024)

Public Works and Parks employees remain on 12-hour shifts to clear debris on public property as quickly as possible, including city streets, boulevards, right of way, and parks. In less than 24 hours, more than 150 dump truck loads of tree debris was removed from city property. The Forestry Division and Park Maintenance are also assisting OPPD with tree trimming and removal so they can access power lines to continue power restoration.

The next phase of cleanup begins Friday. Street maintenance employees assigned to other duties have been reassigned to support private property owners with curbside collection as we complete the cleanup on city property. This collection will include neighborhoods north of Sorensen Parkway and the Storz Expressway to the City limits and east of 60th Street to the Missouri River.

Debris placed at the curb will be picked up beginning tomorrow. City trucks will collect from each street, just once. Our employees will remain on 12-hour shifts for the rest of the week, including Saturday. This operation is likely to continue next week.

The debris drop-off location at Levi Carter Park will remain open 7am - 7pm, until further notice, with the exception of July 4.
