Larry Triplett Keynotes Khanna Career Connections Conference

Larry Triplett '80 delivered the keynote address in Muskingum's second annual Khanna Career Connections Conference on Sept. 28, 2024. A lifelong entrepreneur, he has co-founded three technology companies and a business incubator.

"I was active in many things outside of the classroom when I was at Muskingum," he told the students. "I didn't realize it then, but I know now that it was an incredibly important part of my education. I believe strongly that these experiences are the fuel you need for problem solving and being effective in the workplace. They energize your creative brain."

To illustrate the importance of creativity and problem-solving ability, he shared examples of how Post-It Notes, Nike athletic shoes, and Velcro were invented.

"Make the most of the huge variety of opportunities you have here at Muskingum," he encouraged the students. "This is a unique time in your life, where you can easily explore things that interest you. Without exception, the most successful interns who have been part of my companies over the years are those who were also very engaged in activities.

"I like to think of internships as 'co-curriculars on steroids,'" he said. "When you have an internship, be proactive and interview everyone in the company that you possibly can. Find out about their jobs and career paths, and it will help you refine your own interests and goals.

"Lastly, during your time on campus, continue to be engaged with the Impact Center - connecting you with these opportunities is what they are all about," he concluded.

Mr. Triplett earned his Muskingum Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Speech Communication. While a student, he was active with theatre, WMCO radio, student government, debate, band, choir, athletics, and student life as a Resident Assistant and Resident Director.

He is currently the CEO and Co-Founder of Yodel Community Connections, which uses technology to create community calendars and help draw people to events in their area, and the Co-Owner and President of TriadLabs, LLC, which is developing the virtual reality system REACH Rehab to help patients recover from shoulder injuries.

He also co-founded and served as President of Resource Systems, which provided software for managing resident care in skilled nursing facilities nationwide. He and fellow Muskie Greg Adams '81 began the company in their Muskingum dorm room.

As the Chairman of the Muskingum County Business Incubator, he further extended his passion for innovation, assisting other entrepreneurs and supporting regional economic development.
