National Assembly President Raya Nazaryan and MPs attended the ceremony of raising the national flag in front of the building of the presidential institution on the occasion of the Day of the National Enlighteners - 1 November.

President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Rumen Radev received the honorary formation of the National Guard. The flag was raised to the sound of the Bulgarian anthem.

On the Day of the National Enlighteners, we worship the work of our ancestors and the aspirations of our contemporary enlighteners, their noble mission to preserve spiritual values, love for the Motherland, the pursuit of improvement and knowledge, National Assembly President Raya Nazaryan noted on the occasion of the holiday.

Today, we honour our enlighteners, scholars and revolutionaries, who are an example for all of us and whose path we must follow in order to remember history and build the future of modern and prosperous Bulgaria, the President of Parliament emphasized.

The ceremony was also attended by caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, Bulgarian Patriarch Daniel, Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev, ministers, military, representatives of various institutions, academia, creative unions and citizens.

The Head of State delivered a greeting on the occasion of the Day of the National Enlighteners. Children from kindergarten "Barborino" also participated in the celebration by singing songs and reciting poems.
