The Unclaimed Service honors these Veterans, who will be inurned on this date, with no family in attendance.
Open to the public, the service will include military funeral honors provided by the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County, USA, USN, USMC, USAF, and a roll call, where the names of the Veterans, and their branch of service, will be solemnly read. The service will take place at the committal shelter in the center of the cemetery near the flagpole. Inurnment will be in the Camp Butler National Cemetery Columbarium.
These remains were identified with help from the Peoria County Coroner's Office prior to its internment of the unclaimed on November 1, 2024, at Springdale Cemetery. The unclaimed veterans and spouse will instead be laid to rest at Camp Butler.
