Yoga in the Park Celebrates 12th Year Beginning September 1

Published on August 30, 2024

The Parks and Recreation Department today announced that Yoga in the Park will return in September for its 12th year. The free classes will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Sundays, at the Shildneck Bandshell in Antelope Park, 1650 Memorial Drive.

The schedule and instructor list is as follows:

  • September 1 - Brianna Georgeson
  • September 8 - Salena Woodrow
  • September 15 - Alicia Vrtiska
  • September 22 - Nichole Vesely
  • September 29 - Sheila Palmquist - This event will include a proclamation reading for Lincoln Yoga Day and surprises from yoga community members and businesses.

The Parks, Lincoln, and Yoga (PLAY) wellness series has worked with Lincoln Parks and Recreation for more than a decade to offer classes that are accessible to almost anyone, regardless of yoga experience. Teachers are selected for their ability to offer all class levels to allow attendees to experience the joy and energy of an outdoor community yoga event, said Katherine Warren, PLAY founder.

"We want everyone to experience the joy of this yoga community regardless of their activity level or exposure to yoga," Warren said. "We hope that people will come to Antelope Park with a mat or towel and experience yoga with zero intimidation. You can spread out amongst the park. If you fall, the soft grass will catch you, if you want to bring kids, pets or bikes to the park, all are welcome."
