Augusta Temporarily Suspends Recycling in Aftermath of Hurricane Helene

[AUGUSTA, GA, - October 15, 2024] - Due to the impact on Augusta - Richmond County from Hurricane Helene, the City of Augusta has temporarily suspended recycling collection until further notice. The storm's aftermath has resulted in significant debris and cleanup challenges, with many residents inadvertently mixing trash with recyclables due to limited disposal options. This mixing of materials has made it difficult to properly process recyclable materials. This temporary suspension allows city crews to prioritize clearing roads, restoring power, and addressing safety concerns throughout the community. Residents are asked to hold onto recyclable materials if possible and stay tuned for updates on when recycling services will resume.
