Whispers of culture under the bridge

Turku residents walking along the banks of the Aura River are now delighted by the 'ear poem', which was created from discussions at the Cultural Promise workshops. The ear poem concept was created by the Turku-based literary artist Veera Vähämaa, and the sound play based on the poem was produced by Tehdas Teatteri.

In 2022, the City of Turku made a Cultural Promise: Time for Art and Culture! The Cultural Promise was created in extensive cooperation with artists, industry associations, companies and other partners. Veera Vähämaa's ear poem was created as the result of the discussions in these collaboration workshops.

The Cultural Promise is the basis of the Cultural spearhead project in the City of Turku. The aim of the Cultural spearhead project is to develop and promote the operating conditions of art and culture in Turku in cooperation with the actors in the field. At the same time, it supports the well-being of the city's residents and the vitality of the region.
