SEIU’s Verrett: Donald Trump’s unhinged attacks are no match for Vice President Harris’s comprehensive agenda for working families

SEIU President April Verrett's statement on Tuesday night's presidential debate

WASHINGTON, DC - "During tonight's debate, Donald Trump failed to articulate even one single coherent sentence, let alone a concept of a plan, that would benefit working families. Meanwhile, Vice President Harris showed us that she not only grew up a middle class kid, but she has not forgotten the challenges that working people face in their everyday lives, from paying for housing to finding affordable care for loved ones. Her Opportunity Economy would give everyone who works hard the chance to create a future where we call not just survive, but we can thrive.

Vice President Harris's comprehensive agenda for working families is just what we need. From a child tax credit of $6,000 to help working parents, to a plan to hold corporations accountable for price-gouging at the grocery store and the pharmacy, Vice President Harris stands for policies that will build on the tremendous economic accomplishments that she delivered along with President Biden. Instead of addressing our critical need for affordable care, Trump proposed imposing tariffs on foreign goods, which would only further raise prices for working people. His attempts to gaslight us on his plan to ban abortion and take away women's health care fools no one - Project 2025 says it all.

Working people, men and women of all races and backgrounds, forcefully reject Trump's unhinged attacks, deception and hate. We refuse to go back. Kamala Harris has a vision for a unified country and the future of working people. We will decide this election and we will not be choosing the woman-abusing, election-denying, democracy-destroying 'Leader of Fertilization.'"
