H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a bilateral discussion with H.E. Mr. Jonathan Dale Kings, Ambassador of New Zealand to Thailand, during a courtesy call.

On 8 August 2024, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a bilateral discussion with H.E. Mr. Jonathan Dale Kings, Ambassador of New Zealand to Thailand, during a courtesy call.

Both sides discussed ways to further elevate Thailand-New Zealand relations towards a Strategic Partnership by 2026 through enhancing various cooperation areas, including trade and investment promotion, agricultural and livestock technical cooperation, animation and game development, and joint anti-narcotics efforts. They also discussed on the preparation for an official visit to New Zealand of the Minister of Foreign Affairs at the end of this year.

On this occasion, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing sub-regional and regional cooperation in ACMECS and ASEAN, as well as other potential Mekong cooperation, including through Mekong River Commission (MRC) and Mekong Institute (MI), in the areas of mutual interest, such as food security and climate change. They also exchanged views on regional situation, including the situation in Myanmar.
