The all-electric training aircraft INTEGRAL E, developed by AURA AERO, made its maiden flight on December 3rd in Toulouse over the Francazal area. A success for the advance of 100% electric general aviation, as well as for Safran, which supplied the aircraft's electric motor and its distribution and protection system.

INTEGRAL E is a two-seater flight training aircraft, with aerobatic capability developed by AURA AERO for aviation clubs and flying schools. Its 100% electric propulsion system features an electric motor powered by lithium-ion batteries. By the time it is brought into service, INTEGRAL E will have a battery life of nearly one hour and will be rechargeable in less than 30 minutes.

Safran Electrical & Power supplies the ENGINeUS™ smart electric motor which delivers more than 100 kW. This motor features control electronics directly integrated into the machine and an optimized air cooling system. INTEGRAL E is also equipped with the GENeUSGRID™ distribution and protection system, which manages the energy system to meet motor's requirements.

It's always a thrill to experience a first flight, for all our teams, and this promising training aircraft is no exception. Our collaboration with AURA AERO is that of a major corporation and a start-up writing together the decarbonization of aviation through electric propulsion. A first for AURA AERO, while we await our world premiere. We're in the homestretch for certification of the ENGINeUSTM motor that flew today. Certification tests are completed and all the documentation has been sent to EASA. Bruno Bellanger, executive vice president of Power division at Safran Electrical & Power
