Annual Celebration Serves up Hope and Heroes to Raise Mental Health Awareness

Portland, ME - On July 17, 2024, Maine Behavioral Healthcare (MBH) will hold a benefit from 5:30 - 8 pm to raise funds for mental health services at the annual Signs of Hope fundraiser at the Portland Country Club, 11 Foreside Road, Falmouth, ME. The event is co-hosted by longtime supporter and member of the MBH Development Committee, Falmouth resident Sheri Boulos.

The keynote speaker, Olivia ("Liv"), a resident at the MBH Community Rehabilitation program (Community Rehab), will share her inspirational story of hope in the face of behavioral health diagnoses that include bipolar disorder and schizoaffective disorder.

As part of Signs of Hope, members of the MaineHealth Center for Trauma, Resilience and Innovation will be honored for their heroism in response to last October's tragic shooting in Lewiston. Honorees include MaineHealth Center for Trauma, Resilience, and Innovation staffers Rebecca Hoffmann, director; Allegra Hirsh-Wright, clinical and training manager; Jasmyn Brown, project manager; Aurora Smaldone, senior program manager.

This year's event seeks to raise $175,000 to provide unrestricted support that helps enable MBH to continue offering a complete behavioral and mental healthcare network that includes Spring Harbor Hospital, southern Maine's only private, nonprofit psychiatric hospital as well as community-based services across the state.
