Homeland Security Committee Clears Kelly and Sinema’s Bill Honoring the Late Arizona Congressman Jim Kolbe

Congressman Jim Kolbe worked across the aisle to represent and deliver for Arizona for over 30 years

The U.S. Senate Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee approved Arizona Senators Mark Kelly and Kyrsten Sinema's bipartisan legislation to rename the Patagonia Post Office as the "Jim Kolbe Memorial Post Office." The Senators' bill honors and memorializes the late Arizona Congressman Jim Kolbe, a public servant who advocated for Arizonans for over 30 years, first in the Arizona Senate and then in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Companion legislation was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ-6), David Schweikert (R-AZ-1), Raul Grijalva (D-AZ-3) and Greg Stanton (D-AZ-4).

"Jim Kolbe was a dedicated public servant, committed to reaching across the aisle to deliver results for the people of Arizona. His legacy serves as an inspiration for Democrats and Republicans alike," said Kelly. "The Jim Kolbe Memorial Post Office will commemorate the mark he left on Southern Arizona, and I will keep working to get it done."

Jim Kolbe, a Patagonia native, served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1985 to 2007. He passed away in December 2022.
