NORTHEAST IOWA-Northeast Iowa Community College has earned a Gold award, 2024-2025 Military Friendly® school honor, for its retention, graduation, job placement, repayment, persistence and loan default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans. The College was also recognized as a Military Friendly® Spouse School for 2024-2025.

Institutions earning the Military Friendly® Schools Awards designation were evaluated using public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. More than 1,800 schools participated in the 2024-2025 survey; 537 schools earned awards-level designations in Gold, Silver and Bronze. Along with NICC, 242 colleges were selected for Gold award status for their leading practices, outcomes and effective programs.

"NICC is proud to uphold the commitment to help our students feel welcome and supported. As School Certifying Officials, we take the time to get to know our veterans and military dependents and spouses so we can ensure we are giving them the best support they need while they are transitioning from the military or deciding that it is finally the right time for them to go to school," said Dawn Fleming, NICC assistant director of financial aid/VA certifying official.

The 2024-2025 Military Friendly® Schools list will be published in G.I. Jobs magazine's May issue and found at www.militaryfriendly.com. Methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in higher education. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution's survey responses and government/agency public data sources within a logic-based assessment. We measure their ability to meet thresholds for Retention, Graduation, Job Placement, Repayment, Persistence, and Loan Default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.
